Terms of Service

Last updated: March 23, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Almuten Astrology API ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

2. API Access and Authentication

Access to the API requires a valid API key issued by Almuten. API keys are personal and non-transferable. You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential. You must not share, publish, or embed your key in client-side code.

3. Permitted Use

You may use the Service to build applications, websites, and tools that consume astrological data. You may not resell raw API access or create a competing API proxy using Almuten data without prior written consent.

4. Rate Limits and Fair Use

The API enforces a rate limit of 100 requests per 60-second sliding window per API key. Exceeding this limit returns a 429 status code with a Retry-After header. Sustained abuse may result in temporary or permanent key revocation.

5. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

Planetary positions are calculated using VSOP87 theory and are approximate to ~1 arcminute. Horoscope content is generated algorithmically based on transit data and is provided for entertainment and informational purposes only.

Almuten makes no claims about the predictive validity of astrology. The Service does not constitute medical, financial, legal, or psychological advice. Decisions should not be based solely on astrological data.

6. Availability

The Service is provided on a best-effort basis. No uptime guarantee or service level agreement (SLA) is offered. Almuten reserves the right to perform maintenance, which may result in temporary unavailability.

7. Termination

Almuten may revoke your API key at any time for violations of these terms, sustained abuse, or any other reason at its discretion. You may stop using the Service at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

The API, its documentation, and underlying calculations are the intellectual property of Almuten. You retain ownership of applications you build using the API. Raw API responses may be cached and displayed but may not be redistributed as a standalone dataset.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Almuten shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to Almuten in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Modifications to Terms

Almuten reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via the API documentation or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
